E-scooters in Wrocław: Bolt, Dott and Lime, prices, parking and the tram ban

You can rent an e-scooter (hulajnoga elektryczna) in Wrocław (Wroclaw) with Bolt, Dott or Lime; Bolt and Dott rent only to riders of 18 and over. Bolt charges from PLN 0.22 a minute plus an unlock fee (its rate for Poland on 26 October 2026); Dott and Lime show prices in the app. The city asks you to leave your scooter at a bike rack where there is one, and since 29 April 2026 MPK’s rules have kept every e-scooter, shared or your own, off its trams and buses.

Which e-scooter apps work in Wrocław?

The city’s page on rental scooters (October 2025) names three operators, and all three are on our map:

  • Bolt, in the same app as its taxis. Its terms for Poland require you to be 18.
  • Dott, whose terms for Poland also require 18. Its website also lists nearby Siechnice, Oława and Trzebnica.
  • Lime, whose prices and rules are in its app.

At 20:40 on Sunday 25 October 2026 the Wrocław map showed about 3,200 Bolt and Dott scooters (about 1,850 Bolt, 1,350 Dott): a snapshot, not a fleet size. Matched to GUGiK’s official commune boundaries at about 00:50 that night, all but 23 of the 3,195 then on the map stood inside the city. The other 23, still in the map’s Wrocław total, stood just to the south, in Kobierzyce and Siechnice.

A full scan of Lime’s Wrocław zone, wholly inside the city, finished at 18:19 that day and found about 1,100 Lime scooters: a separate count, not part of that snapshot.

The map shows where each scooter stands, with Lime’s and Bolt’s battery charge (unless Bolt hides it) but not Dott’s, and no prices, zones, parking places or hours. It doesn’t cover Dott in Oława or Trzebnica, nor any bikes.

How much does an e-scooter cost in Wrocław?

Bolt’s Polish page advertises scooters “from PLN 0.22 a minute” plus a small unlock fee, with rates that can vary by place. It also sells unlimited unlocks from €0.99 a month, and weekly and monthly passes. Bolt may ask for a reaction-time test in the app before you unlock: at weekends, says its Polish page, or at peak hours, says its English one.

Dott sells day, week and month passes and, like Lime, shows its prices in the app. Bolt’s and Dott’s terms set the extra charges:

Where to park an e-scooter in Wrocław

We found no scooter parking points in Wrocław like those in Kraków and Poznań. Instead, the city’s page on rental scooters (updated 8 October 2025) sets out where to leave one:

  • Bike racks are the places meant for them. The city counts more than 20,000 rack spaces, spread across almost the whole of Wrocław.
  • No rack nearby? Park at the pavement’s outer edge, leaving at least 1.5 m for pedestrians, and more on busy streets. Never on a pedestrian crossing or a cycle path, and not on or next to tactile paving.
  • Signs count. A no-vehicles, no-stopping or no-waiting sign applies to scooters too.
  • In a home zone (strefa zamieszkania) park only at a bike rack: the Road Traffic Act allows parking there only in places marked for it.

Spots where scooters are always left badly can be flagged in a city survey; the city passes them on and proposes that the operators’ apps stop rides ending there. To report one in the way, contact its operator (the city’s page lists how) or the municipal police (Straż Miejska) on 986.

The police or the municipal police can have a scooter left where it’s banned and in the way towed at its owner’s cost: in 2026, PLN 160 plus PLN 20 a day in the pound (city council resolution of 20 November 2025). For a rental that’s the company, and Bolt’s and Dott’s terms let them pass it on to you.

Where can you ride? Poland’s e-scooter rules

Poland’s Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym) sets the riding rules in Wrocław. An electric scooter (hulajnoga elektryczna) may go no faster than 20 km/h.

  • Cycle path or cycle lane first, where there is one for your direction.
  • Otherwise the road, but only where its speed limit is 30 km/h or less.
  • The pavement only as an exception: beside a road with a limit above 30 km/h and no cycle path or lane, at walking pace, giving way to pedestrians.

All are national rules. The tickets come from the government’s fines tariff in force since 1 January 2022, and the helmet fine from the Code of Petty Offences.

Market Square, the zoo, Centennial Hall and the universities

Market Square (Rynek) and Ostrów Tumski. We found no city rule for either beyond the national ones and the bike-rack parking above. At about 00:50 on 26 October the map showed 44 scooters within 300 metres of the Old Town Hall.

The zoo. ZOO Wrocław’s visitor rules (2025) ban bringing a scooter in, let alone riding one.

Centennial Hall (Hala Stulecia). The complex’s rules, which also cover the Pergola and its multimedia fountain, allow riding a scooter only outdoors, with care and giving way to pedestrians, and ban leaving one anywhere but the places meant for it (in force since 1 May 2021).

The universities. We found no scooter rule from the University of Wrocław or the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

Trams, buses, trains, the main station and the airport

Trams and buses (MPK). MPK’s carriage rules, in force since the mayor approved them on 29 April 2026, ban carrying “personal transport devices (UTO), including electric scooters”, e-skateboards, e-unicycles and e-bikes. The city sums it up: don’t board with anything that has a battery, electric wheelchairs excepted. A scooter without a motor may travel folded. After an e-unicycle filled an MPK bus with smoke on 23 September 2026, MPK said it would enforce the ban.

Koleje Dolnośląskie, the regional trains. Its carriage rules, as amended from 1 July 2026, take one unfolded e-scooter for the bike fare if a space is on sale; staff may refuse one at busy times, and you may not charge its battery on board.

Wrocław Główny. The main station is run by PKP S.A., the state railway company. Its rules ban riding a scooter “on the platform, the way to the platform, in the hall, waiting room … underpass, on the footbridge … and near the track less than 3 metres from the outer rail” without its consent, and leaving rental scooters “except in the places meant for them” (§ 3, January 2025). At about 00:50 on 26 October the map showed 106 scooters within 300 metres of its address, ul. Piłsudskiego 105.

Wrocław Airport. Its website refused our requests, so we can’t quote its rules. Bus 106 from ul. Dworcowa and the Wro Airport Express from the bus station link it with Wrocław Główny, PKP says.

Night, winter and New Year’s Eve

We found no night ban and no winter pause set by the city. Lime ended its 2024 season on 1 December, the city said, but in November 2025 Lime said its scooters would stay through the winter in Wrocław and its other Polish cities, with zones that might shrink in bad weather, iMagazine reported. Bolt’s scooters run in autumn and winter, but Bolt may switch them off for a few days when the weather turns, the city said on 31 December 2024. We found no plans from either for this winter by 26 October 2026.

For New Year’s Eve 2024 Bolt announced it would switch its Wrocław scooters off from 22:00 until 08:00, much as it had the year before.

Did you know?

  • The main station was the busiest spot. In 2022 Bolt’s Wrocław scooters were most often rented and returned at Wrocław Główny, and riders covered more than 1.1 million km on them, the city said, citing Bolt.
  • Towing comes in waves. The municipal police had 25 e-scooters towed in 2022, then almost 200 in two days of May 2023, 139 from the Rynek and around in one day, the city said.
  • City bikes are free for 20 minutes. Wrocławski Rower Miejski, run by Nextbike, then charges PLN 3 up to the hour and PLN 6 for each started hour after that, after a PLN 10 sign-up fee (its price list, January 2026).
