E-scooters in Campos do Jordão: Whoosh and JET, what they cost, where to ride and the town’s helmet rule

You can rent an e-scooter in Campos do Jordão, the mountain resort in São Paulo state, from JET, whose app in Brazil is Go Jet, or from Whoosh: the Prefeitura (the town hall) has authorised both on pilot terms, JET since December 2025 and Whoosh since July 2026. You must be 18. Since October 2026 a town law has kept e-scooters to the cycle path wherever there is one, at up to 20 km/h, banned them from pavements and made a helmet compulsory. Park only at the points your app shows.

Which e-scooter apps work in Campos do Jordão?

Two operators rent out stand-up e-scooters (patinetes elétricos) in Campos do Jordão, each on its own authorisation from the Prefeitura:

  • JET, through the Go Jet app, authorised by Decree 8.983 of 12 December 2025, its scooters out since early January 2026.
  • Whoosh, in its own app, authorised by Decree 9.059 of 14 July 2026, with effect from 7 July.

Both are pilots, granted three months at a time, without exclusive rights and revocable at any time; on 6 October 2026 the Prefeitura extended each by three months. Each operator must insure riders against accidents and harm to others, and remove a badly parked scooter at once. The town’s public security department chooses the parking points and, for Whoosh, how many scooters it may run; it had published neither by 22 October 2026.

The town’s micromobility law, Law 4.324, foresees accrediting operators through a public call (edital); none had been issued by 22 October 2026.

How much does electric scooter rental in Campos do Jordão cost?

Each app shows its price before you start. When JET launched, the Prefeitura gave its prices on 6 January 2026 as R$2.99 to unlock plus R$0.99 a minute, or R$59 for an hour, warning that they could change, with packs of minutes:

Whoosh publishes no Campos do Jordão rate; its app shows it. Its terms for Brazil (updated 21 March 2025) charge R$40 for ending a ride away from a “P” parking point or for two people on one scooter, and R$7,500 for losing it. Go Jet’s terms (revised August 2026) make you liable for fines and removal costs.

Where can you ride an e-scooter in Campos do Jordão?

Law 4.324 of 10 June 2026 took effect in October, 120 days after its publication. It binds visitors as well as residents, and keeps e-scooters to cycle paths and cycle lanes wherever there is one. At JET’s launch the Prefeitura said its scooters stood along the cycle path from the Vila Santa Cruz roundabout to Vila Capivari, with GPS keeping them to the town’s central axis and to 20 km/h, and the mayor said they were allowed only on the cycle path.

The national rules would let a town open pavements to e-scooters at up to 6 km/h; Campos do Jordão has not. Its law also lets the Prefeitura set other speed limits after studying, among other things, “the rugged relief characteristic of Campos do Jordão”; it had set none by 22 October 2026. Whatever the law allows, your scooter runs only inside the zone its app shows.

Fines come from two levels. Under the Brazilian Traffic Code (Código de Trânsito Brasileiro), riding where it isn’t allowed is a medium offence, fined R$130.16, and riding on a pavement is a very serious one, with the fine tripled: R$880.41. Law 4.324 adds the town’s own fines, below.

Where to park a JET or Whoosh scooter

End your ride only at a parking point your app shows: the town’s public security department chooses them, and since October 2026 Law 4.324 has banned leaving a shared scooter anywhere else, or where it blocks people on foot, entrances or traffic signs.

  • Whoosh: end the ride at a “P” on its map. Anywhere else costs R$40.
  • JET: end the ride at a point in the Go Jet app. The service opened with a free riding lesson on Sunday 4 January 2026 at the scooter parking hub in Vila Abernéssia, the Prefeitura said.

The town’s fines come on top of the traffic code’s and are set in its fiscal unit (R$7.03 in 2026): R$105.45 for a light offence such as having no bell (the first earns only a written warning), R$246.05 for a medium one such as riding without a helmet, R$421.80 for a serious one such as pavement riding or carrying a passenger, and R$527.25 plus seizure for riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs, against the traffic or on one wheel. For the law’s first 120 days in force, enforcement is meant to be educational.

Where to find JET and Whoosh scooters in Campos do Jordão

At about 22:40 local time on Monday 26 October 2026 the map of Campos do Jordão showed about 430 standing scooters: 240 Whoosh and 190 JET. That is a night-time snapshot, not the size of either fleet, and scooters on a ride don’t appear.

An hour later, on the municipal boundaries of IBGE, Brazil’s statistics institute, every scooter the map showed stood inside Campos do Jordão, in a band about 6.5 km long and under 1 km wide running from south-west to north-east. JET’s stood mostly towards the south-western end, Whoosh’s towards the north-eastern.

The map shows each Whoosh scooter’s charge and range, and each JET scooter’s charge. It shows no prices, parking points, zones or hours; the apps do. The same two apps work in São Paulo: see e-scooters in São Paulo.

The tram, the buses and the parks

Don’t plan on the tram. The Campos do Jordão Railway (Estrada de Ferro Campos do Jordão), the state line whose tram and steam train ran tourist trips, went into decline after a fatal accident in 2012 and is out of service, the Prefeitura said on 13 January 2026, when the state authorised a tender for a private operator. The tender was suspended in June 2026 with no date for trains to return, NetCampos reported in October.

A shared scooter can’t go on a bus: Whoosh charges R$40 for carrying its scooter in a car, bus or taxi, and Go Jet’s terms forbid carrying its scooter in any vehicle.

Campos do Jordão State Park (Parque Estadual Campos do Jordão), better known as the Horto Florestal, was put under a state concession in April 2019 and is now run by Urbanes Empreendimentos, the state says. Its rules let you bring your own bike, with a helmet, in the central area, on the waterfall trail and in the Bosque Vermelho. They say nothing about e-scooters.

Parque Capivari, by the lake in Vila Capivari, is run by its own operator and publishes no rule on scooters.

Both authorisations cover e-scooters only, and we found no bike share.

Winter, the festival and the hills

Winter is the high season: it opens at Corpus Christi, and the town expected 2.2 million visitors by the end of the July holidays in 2026. On 15 July 2026 the INMET weather station recorded 1.3 °C, the lowest of the year so far, and frost covered gardens and cars: ride gently on frosty mornings.

The Campos do Jordão International Winter Festival, Latin America’s largest classical music festival in its own words, ran from 4 July to 2 August in 2026; the 2027 dates were not out by 27 October. Its main stage, the Auditório Claudio Santoro, belongs to the state’s culture department and is run by ACAM Portinari. Concerts there are free, with tickets online three days before.

The town is hilly, as Law 4.324 itself acknowledges. Very hilly cities make scooters much harder to operate, Whoosh’s head in Brazil, Cadu Souza, told Bloomberg Línea in September 2026.

Did you know?

  • The cycle path has a price. The town charges each operator a monthly public price of 1,000 of its fiscal units for using it: R$7,030 at the 2026 rate.
  • A test town for Whoosh. Until Campos do Jordão, Whoosh had gone only to state capitals in Brazil; the town was its test of growing into places near its main cities, Bloomberg Línea reported on 25 September 2026.
  • A micromobility week. Law 4.324 sets a Safe and Accessible Micromobility Week in the first week of every February.
