E-scooters in Örebro: Qick, Voi and Ryde, and where to ride and park
E-scooters in Örebro are rented from Qick, Voi and Ryde, the three companies the municipality lists (October 2026). Our map shows where Qick and Voi scooters stand, but not Ryde’s, and no prices or parking areas: each app shows those. Ride on the cycle lane or the road, never on the pavement, and end your ride in cycle parking or an area set aside for cycles, never on a footway or a shared foot-and-cycle path. The municipality moves dangerously parked scooters and charges the company SEK 1,514 each time, a cost Qick and Ryde may pass on to you.
E-scooters in Örebro: Qick, Voi and Ryde
Electric scooter rental in Örebro has needed a permit from the police to use public land since 2023, says Örebro kommun (the municipality). Its e-scooter page gives contacts for three rental companies (updated 2 October 2026, read 29 October 2026):
| Company | On the municipality’s list | On the ScootRadar map |
|---|---|---|
| Qick | Yes | Yes, with battery |
| Voi | Yes | Yes, with battery |
| Ryde | Yes, and Ryde lists Örebro among its towns | No: check the Ryde app |
Ryde isn’t on our map, so look for its scooters in its own app, and don’t read the map’s total as all the scooters in town. At 05:51 on Thursday 29 October 2026 the map of Örebro showed about 770 Voi scooters as they stood at that moment and about 1,110 Qick scooters as last counted: a snapshot, not the fleet size. Scooters on a ride aren’t shown, nor prices, zones or parking.
The map has no outline for Örebro: its total is everything the two companies’ data assign to the town, in an area up to about 12 km across, so it isn’t a count within the town’s boundaries. Bolt and Lime aren’t on the municipality’s list.
How much does a Qick or Voi scooter cost in Örebro?
The app shows the price before you unlock. We found no Örebro price on an open official page, and neither Qick’s nor Ryde’s website lists one.
Qick rents only to riders aged 18 or over, its website and terms say, and Ryde’s Swedish terms let you ride from 15 (October 2026). Check the Voi app for its own age limit and fees.

Örebro’s rules for hire scooters: the permit and removals
The municipality’s page (2 October 2026) names no cap on the number of scooters, no night rule and no winter pause. The companies move badly placed scooters, and the municipality moves those it finds parked dangerously, charging the company SEK 1,514 for each in 2026, under fees the municipal council set on 22 October 2025.
If the municipality picks up a Qick scooter you parked wrongly, Qick’s terms let it charge you up to SEK 1,500; to avoid that, your end-of-ride photo must clearly show the scooter in a cycle rack or other cycle parking. Ryde’s Swedish terms say that if you send no parking photo and a municipality charges Ryde, you pay what Ryde reckons the cost to be (both read 29 October 2026).
E-scooter rules in Sweden: what applies in Örebro
An e-scooter, or elsparkcykel as Örebro’s own pages call it, counts as a bicycle if it goes no faster than 20 km/h and its motor is rated at no more than 250 W, says the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen, 14 August 2026), so cyclists’ rules apply. The law sets no minimum age; under-15s must wear a helmet, and the agency recommends one for everyone.
| Rule | What it means | Set by | If you break it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where to ride | The cycle lane if there is one, otherwise the road; from 15 you may use the road anyway, with care, where the limit is 50 km/h or less | The law | SEK 500 |
| Pavements | Never ride on a pavement or footway; you may wheel the scooter there | The law | SEK 500 |
| Pedestrian streets | Walking pace; give way to people on foot | The law | SEK 1,000 |
| Red lights | Stop, as on a bicycle | The law | SEK 1,500 |
| One rider | No passengers | The law | SEK 500 for the rider and SEK 500 for the passenger |
| Helmet | Compulsory under 15, recommended for all | The law | No fine for the rider |
| Alcohol | No fixed limit, but you may not ride if drink or drugs stop you riding safely | The law | – |
| Parking | In cycle parking or an area set aside for cycles; never on a footway, cycle lane or shared foot-and-cycle path, nor where it blocks the way or puts others in danger | The law since 1 September 2022; the municipality | The municipality may move it; the company may charge you |
The police issue these fines on the spot (ordningsbot), at the amounts for cyclists set by the Prosecutor-General (1 November 2025). When traffic police checked riders in central Örebro in June 2026, they reported 54 offences, most of them two people on one scooter or riding on the pavement, and planned more checks, SVT reported on 25 June 2026. The same national rules apply in Stockholm: see our Stockholm guide.
Where to park an e-scooter in Örebro
Since 1 September 2022 Swedish law has banned leaving an e-scooter on a footway or cycle lane except in a marked parking place or a cycle rack, though a town may allow exceptions. Örebro’s technical committee allowed one outside the city centre’s parking zone 1 and the travel centre until the end of 2022, then extended it to mid-2023, the municipality’s parking review of January 2023 says. The municipality’s page today makes no such exception (2 October 2026).
On the municipality’s land you may park only in cycle parking or areas set aside for cycles, which the companies must mark clearly in their apps. Parking is banned on footways and pavements, on shared foot-and-cycle paths and anywhere else without cycle parking, and those areas must be marked in the apps too. Never leave a scooter where it blocks the way or endangers others: people on foot, cyclists, buses, other traffic or the emergency services. On private land, the owner decides.
To report a badly parked scooter, tell the company that owns it, with a photo and the position, the municipality asks: Qick at support@qickscooters.com, Ryde on 077-588 80 12 and Voi on 021-665 59 22.
In Örebro a hire scooter belongs in cycle parking or an area set aside for cycles, never on the pavement or a shared foot-and-cycle path. The app shows where ending a ride is allowed.
Where to ride: cycle paths, the station and Örebro University
Ride on the cycle lane or the road. You may also ride on a shared foot-and-cycle path (gemensam gång- och cykelbana); on a pavement you may only wheel the scooter, or cross the pavement to reach the road or a parking place, the municipality says. Örebro has 360 km of separate foot-and-cycle paths, 30 km of them main cycle routes linking the districts with the centre, and in winter it sweeps and salts some routes, shown on its web map (21 November 2025).
| Place | Who says so | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| Örebro Central | Jernhusen, the station’s owner | No e-scooter rule on its station page; the station is open 04:30–22:30 on weekdays, 06:15–22:30 on Saturdays and 08:00–22:30 on Sundays |
| Campus Örebro | Örebro University | E-scooters go in the stands set aside for them; the cycle racks with a hoop to lock to are for bicycles only (19 August 2026) |
| University buildings | Örebro University | No riding or storing e-scooters indoors (8 April 2026), and no handling, storing or charging lithium-ion batteries for private vehicles there (19 August 2026) |
We found no e-scooter rule of its own for Örebro Castle or the paths along the Svartån river (October 2026).
Can you take an e-scooter on a Länstrafiken bus or the train?
Länstrafiken Örebro, the county’s public transport, says hire e-scooters are not allowed on its buses, because they can’t be secured safely (26 June 2026). Your own folding e-scooter may come on all its buses, free and if there is room:
- It may be no longer than 120 cm folded, and you must handle it yourself getting on and off.
- Put it on the floor in front of you, not sticking out into the aisle; in the back row you may also lay it on the floor behind your feet.
- Never stand on it while the bus is moving.
For trains, Länstrafiken refers you to the train company:
- Mälartåg, the regional trains that run as far west as Örebro: fold the e-scooter and keep it in the luggage rack or on the floor by your seat, not on the overhead shelf; you may not charge it on board.
- SJ trains: fold it and put it in the luggage rack or under the seat in front of you, not overhead; you may not charge it on board, SJ says.
A hire scooter stays on the street: end your ride in a rack or cycle parking near the stop or the station before you board.
Linköping and the map
Qick, Voi and Ryde also rent scooters in Linköping: see our Linköping guide. The map shows standing e-scooters only, not bikes. To see what is standing near you now, open the Örebro map.
Did you know?
- Started by a taxi firm. Örebro’s first hire e-scooters appeared in October 2019, put out not by one of the big companies but by a local taxi firm, SVT reported.
- A home-town company. Qick Mobility, the company behind Qick, gives its address in Örebro.
- 4,000 scooters taken away. By November 2025 the municipality had impounded about 4,000 scooters left in the way that year, charging the companies SEK 1,500 for each, the highest such fee in Sweden, SVT reported.
- Trains since 1856. Trains have run in Örebro since 1856, when the first standard-gauge railway line was built here; the station dates from 1862 and is a listed building, Jernhusen says.
